Russian anti-doping agency worried about facing a new ban

Xinhua news agency, Moscow, November 10-The Associated Press reported on the 9th that the head of the Russian anti-doping agency was worried that if the World Anti-Doping Agency could not obtain urine samples stored in the Russian Anti-Doping Agency laboratory before the end of the year, russian sports will face a new round of ban.

In November 2015, the World Anti-Doping Agency released the investigation report made by Canadian lawyer McLaren, saying that there was a problem of “organized” and “systematic” use of banned drugs in Russian sports circles, subsequently, a ban was imposed on the Russian Anti-Doping Agency.

In September this year, the World Anti-Doping Agency resumed the qualification of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, paving the way for Russia to participate in important international sports events in the future. However, the World Anti-Doping Agency said that the urine samples stored in Moscow anti-doping laboratory must be obtained before the end of the year, otherwise Russia will be punished again. Russian Sports Minister Kolobkov has acknowledged this, and the World Anti-Doping Agency is scheduled to review it in December 11-12.

But according to The Associated Press quoted the TASS news agency, the head of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, Yury garnas, said that he was “worried about the progress of the approval to enter the Moscow Laboratory”. The World Anti-Doping Agency stressed that December 31 is the deadline, and this position remains unchanged.

At present, these samples are not in the hands of the Russian Anti-Doping Agency, but are controlled by the Russian commission of inquiry that is investigating the problem of doping. Uri Ganas called on the committee to hand over samples as soon as possible: “We still have one and a half months to make a decision until the last few days of this year is incorrect.” He said that if Russia cannot hand over samples before the deadline, it will face a new ban from international organizations.
