Chinese Football Association Announces Hiddink as head coach of Chinese U21 men’s football team

Xinhua News Agency, Kunming, September 10 (Reporter Yue ran) the official website of the Chinese Football Association officially announced on the 10th that Dutch coach Hiddink will be the head coach of China’s U21 national men’s football team and will lead the team training competition in October.

The Chinese Football Association said on its official website: “In preparation for the U23 Asian Championship qualifier held in March 2019, it will fully impact the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, which has been researched and approved by the Chinese Football Association, dutch coach Hiddink became the head coach of U21 national men’s football team and will lead the team training competition in October.”

China U21 national men’s football team is mainly composed of players of 1997 age, whose main task is to fully impact the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games.

Hiddink entered the role in advance before the official announcement. On September 4-8, Hiddink watched the “2018 China Football Association China Team International Youth Football Championship” (hereinafter referred to as the National Youth Four Nations competition) participated by Chinese U21 men’s football team in Qujing, Yunnan, but he did not participate in the command. In this event, the Chinese team won the second place with one win and two draws. Hiddink watched three games and the final award ceremony of the Chinese team in the stands.

The National Youth Four Nations tournament is considered to be an important signal for Hiddink to become the coach of the Chinese U21 men’s football team, and his main task is to inspect the players. It is reported that Shen Xiangfu will still be the leader of the Chinese coaching team of this U21 men’s football team and will cooperate with Hiddink.

The 72-year-old Hiddink has a brilliant head coach experience. He once led the Dutch team to the 4th place in the 1998 World Cup, led the South Korean team to the top 4 in the 2002 World Cup, led the Australian team to the top 16 in the 2006 World Cup, and led the Russian team to the top 4 in the 2008 European Championship. In terms of club coaching, he once led Eindhoven to become “the treble” in the Dutch Cup, the Dutch Cup and the European Champions League. He also coached Spanish champions Valencia, Real Madrid, Royal Betis, Premier League Chelsea and other teams.
