Start again! Chen Penbin challenges America’s first cross-country race

Facing the difficult schedule, Chen Penbin looked very excited. He said: G2G is the most famous multi-day cross-country race in the United States. I have prepared for a long time to achieve good results in this race.

Xinhua News Agency, Washington, September 22, 2018GrandtoGrand cross-country race (G2G) is about to start in Utah, USA. Chen Penbin, the talent of China’s extreme marathon, as the only Chinese player who has qualified for the competition through screening, is now ready in Kabu town, Utah, where the competition starts, and will meet the ultimate challenges in the next seven days.

According to the introduction, G2G cross-country race is the first multi-day cross-country race in the United States that needs to be completed independently. The first race was held in 2002 and has now become the most influential multi-day cross-country race in the United States. The total length of this event is 273 kilometers, and the runner needs to cross the deserts of Utah and Arizona through his feet in 7 days of competition. The journey is divided into 6 segments. Players will be recorded when completing each segment, and finally the players with the least total time in each segment will win. If the player fails to arrive before the specified deadline, he will be disqualified and will be eliminated.

G2G cross-country race is also called the most difficult multi-day cross-country race in the United States. During the competition, players will not be allowed to help with any external force, and they need to carry up all the supplies and camping equipment needed within 7 days alone to complete the competition. During the competition, the players need to run through desert sections, rock canyons, hills and valleys and various rugged terrain alone, which is a great test for the players’ perseverance and survival ability.

Compared with the competition Chen Penbin has participated in in in the past two years, this competition has been upgraded to a great extent in both difficulty and form. The terrain is more difficult and the road section is more complicated. At the same time, because team subsidies are not allowed, Chen Penbin has to deal with all kinds of difficulties in the competition alone. This is also after the yamasun cross-country race in October 2016, Chen Penbin took part in the extreme cross-country race again after two years.

Facing the difficult schedule, Chen Penbin looked very excited. He said: “G2G is the most famous multi-day cross-country race in the United States. I have prepared for a long time to achieve good results in this race. I look forward to challenging my limits again. The goal I expect in this competition is the top three. If it can be achieved, it will be a great honor for me.”

According to another introduction, in order to prepare for this competition, Chen Penbin arrived in the United States nearly a week before the competition. After three days of adjustment and warm-up, he arrived in Kabu town, Utah on the 20th.
