“shooting is a project more suitable for Chinese people, but it is not very popular.” Xu Haifeng, the first Chinese Olympic gold medal and former Chinese men’s shooting team athlete, said in Shijiazhuang on the 10th.
On that day, the first national open trials of shooting and archery in Hebei province opened here, and nearly 1,000 people signed up to participate. Xu Haifeng, along with Pang Wei, the Olympic shooting champion, Ren Jie, Yang Haoran and other world champions, gave guidance to the small players and expressed their views on the promotion of shooting projects.
Shooting has always been one of the advantageous sports in China. The Chinese shooting team is a world shooting team, and it is one of the teams that have won the most gold medals in previous Olympic Games and Asian Games. However, the popularity of shooting is difficult to compare with table tennis, basketball and other events.
Although he has retired, Xu Haifeng still cares about the development of shooting. “In recent years (China) shooting has achieved good results in international competitions, but there is also a lack of new generation talents.” He said that the emergence of this situation has something to do with the lack of public Foundation and inadequate popularity of shooting.
In Xu Haifeng’s view, due to the limitation of China’s regulations on gun management, it is difficult to popularize shooting. However, with the emergence of new equipment such as laser gun, favorable conditions have emerged for the promotion of shooting. He hopes that shooting managers and practitioners can find ways to create conditions to promote the participation of the whole people in shooting sports, select and train outstanding talents suitable for this sport, and send them to the international arena to win honor for the country.
“The emphasis is on participation. The first priority is to participate and enjoy the fun of sports.” Xu Haifeng emphasized.
“Shooting is a popular project in China.” Ren Jie, who has won the World Cup Shooting Championship for many times, is now the coach of Hebei shooting team. She analyzed that except for factors such as gun management, the shooting was quiet and the antagonism was weak, so the appreciation was poor. At the same time, people have misunderstandings about shooting. For example, many people think myopia is not suitable for shooting, but in fact, they can participate in shooting as long as they can see clearly by wearing glasses.
In Ren Jie’s view, only by making people, especially children, more contact with shooting, can they have a deeper understanding of the fun brought by shooting and the happiness brought by sports, in order to make the shooting project more popular.
Yang Haoran, born in 1996, is an outstanding representative of the younger generation of shooting in China. He is only 22 years old and a gold medalist in the world shooting championship.
In his view, there are few people who can contact shooting in China, the attention is too small, and the selection of materials is also limited. More promotional activities will supplement shooting power, it is very helpful to promote the participation of the whole people. “I hope that more and more new forces will emerge in the Chinese shooting family in the future.”
